Philip Earnhart is a Swiss-American
contemporary painter, graphic
designer and philanthropist.
Inspired from a young age by the tragic death of his brother to cancer and an increasing awareness of and empathy with outsiders, he rebelled against his strict evangelical upbringing to develop an artistic technique purely focused on his drive to create connections with the oppressed, the misunderstood, and the burdened.
He celebrates the complex interplay between light and darkness that resolves itself in shape, color and form. Working primarily in acrylic, the speed and decisiveness required to paint in this fast-drying medium translates Earnhart’s motions into transparent layers that draw the viewer in, stimulate deep emotion, and coalesce into a shared moment between the artist and the viewer.
His paintings are both active and contemplative, and they resonate with both urgency and humor. A critical exploration of the dualities of darkness and light, grief and resilience, oppression and freedom; the energy he discovers within these tensions is released in vibrant bursts of color that inspire the viewer and echo with the potential for deeper resolution.
